My Paycom Journey as a New Client Setup Specialist

Samirie is a native Oklahoman who calls Norman home. She’s an alum of the University of Central Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in general studies. Before joining the Paycom team, Samirie honed her skills as part of the accounting department at a car dealership, then progressed to business development, focusing on marketing and online sales.

Tell us about your Paycom Journey.

Initially, I applied and interviewed for a tax specialist role. My amazing recruiter saw the potential in me to excel as a New Client Setup Specialist and helped guide me in that direction. I have been with Paycom for two years and now have a senior NCS specialist position.

What do you do, and what does a normal day look like?

As an NCS specialist, I onboard and guide new clients to achieve their first successful payroll within Paycom. I work closely with Paycom’s internal teams and help educate new clients, customize system setup to their specific needs and ensure the smooth adoption of our software.

Each day is different, but I often spend my time within the system, troubleshooting and communicating with our clients and our internal teams.

Why did you decide to join the Paycom team?

Growing up in Oklahoma, I’ve seen the growth of this company over the years, and that’s what initially caught my attention. I learned about Paycom’s belief and investment in its employees. As a second-generation American, Paycom’s emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion, along with its company culture and endless opportunities, sealed the deal for me to begin my career at Paycom.

What is the best part about your role?

I love connecting with our clients and working through the intricacies of a client’s setup to help make their lives easier!

What is your favorite #PaycomPerk?

It’s hard to pick just one, but if I had to, it would be the on-campus gym and fitness classes. With all the health benefits, support and resources provided, Paycom has made it easy to find what I need to have a healthy work-life balance.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

The courtyard or Paycom Park! They’re both great options to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air throughout the day.

What advice do you have for aspiring employees?

Be ready to grow in your professional and personal life. With that growth, there will be challenges, but the reward is worth it!
